AuthX System Tray Applet: Features and Functions

Once the Windows Agent is installed, navigate to the System Tray. In the System Tray, click the AuthX icon to display the menu.


Key Information Displayed on the Menu

  • Logged-in Username: This field displays the username of the currently logged-in user.

  • Date and Time Logged In: This shows the precise date and time the user logged into the system.

  • Auth Factor Used: Displays the authentication factor (e.g., password, biometric, OTP) used to log in to the system.


Applications and Authentication Features Available on the Menu

  1. Manage Authentication:

    1. The Manage Authentication option lets you view and manage the authentication factors in the AuthX system. Upon clicking the option, log in with your domain authentication factors to manage your system authentication.

    2. You can enroll or disable authentication factors by toggling the ON or OFF buttons. Additionally, you can update your phone number. To add more company-provided authentication factors, navigate to the User Portal Enrollment section.


2. Web Applications:

  1. Web Applications provide users seamless access to web-based applications created by the Admins in the AuthX Admin Portal under Applications Bridge Applications. Additionally, users can add web applications exclusively for their own use under the Applications section in the User Portal. Clicking on Web Applications opens the AuthX User Portal with access to all the Web/Bridge Applications, providing a quick and reliable way to launch them.


  1. Windows Applications:

    1. This option lets you quickly access Windows Applications using Auto Launch. The admin creates RPA applications in the AuthX Admin Portal under Applications RPA Applications. Click on any application or right-click on the desired application, which allows you to create a desktop shortcut or enable Auto Launch, which automatically opens the application for quick and easy access. Additionally, you can access the ‘Change Credentials’ option if the application credentials are set to ‘Application-Specific' during RPA application setup.

    2. Clicking 'Change Credentials,' you must enter the username and password, then click 'Save.' The application will then launch in the browser.


  2. RDP Applications (Remote Desktop Protocol Applications):

    1. This feature helps you manage the remote desktop applications, ensuring secure and efficient remote access with appropriate authentication. The admin adds the RDP applications shown through the AuthX Admin portal under Applications Connection Profiles and configures them within the Windows application under Connection Profiles.

    2. Click on any application or right-click on the desired application, which allows you to create a desktop shortcut or enable Auto Launch, which automatically opens the application for quick and easy access. Additionally, if the application credentials are set to 'Application-specific' during the RDP application setup, you can access the ‘Change Credentials’ options.

    3. Clicking 'Change Credentials,' you must enter the username and password, then click 'Save.' The application will then launch in the browser.


Advanced Features and Functions

  1. Upload Logs:

    1. Upload Logs streamline gathering logs from various system sources, making diagnosing issues and monitoring system performance easier. Collecting relevant log data helps identify problems and optimize system performance efficiently. Clicking on Upload Logs will open the AuthX Logs Collector window. Event Logs are set to capture data from the last 24 hours by default, but you can customize the time range as needed.

    2. Click on Generate to start collecting the logs. Once generated, a ticket will be created for the issue, and you may contact the AuthX Support Team for a log review and provide a solution.


  1. Update Configuration:

    1. This feature enables you to apply configuration updates to the AuthX Windows agent. Any changes to your Windows agent through the AuthX Portal will be reflected here. This option will prompt a pop-up asking you to restart the Windows agent to apply the changes.


  2. Help Section: The help section includes features with key details about your system and offers helpful resources to ensure a smooth experience. It offers users insights into their system's status and troubleshooting tips and reaches out for additional support from the AuthX team. Such detailed system information can streamline troubleshooting and ensure users get help.

  1. Logged-in User: This refers to the currently authenticated user account accessing the system, helping to identify the user for accurate support and ensuring that any personal or account-specific issues are adequately addressed.

  2. Logged-in Domain: This indicates the network domain to which the logged-in user belongs (e.g., company domain or internal network), helping support teams or system administrators diagnose domain-specific or network-related issues.

  3. Machine Name: This is the unique identifier of the computer or device the user is logged into. It allows technical support to identify machine-related problems and provide tailored instructions for the device.

  4. Logged-in Time: The timestamp records when the user logs into the system, helping support teams identify issues related to session duration or system load.

  5. AuthX VersionThis refers to the version of AuthX that ensures that the user uses the correct and most up-to-date authentication system. Support teams rely on this information, as specific bugs or issues may be linked to outdated software.

  6. Update Available: The update option is always available, allowing users to check for updates and install the latest available AuthX Windows Agent version, ensuring they can access the most stable and secure version.

  7. HelpDesk Information: This provides contact details for the support team, offering users a direct way to reach out for assistance with issues that cannot be resolved through the help section.
